JUJU - LIVE AT THE MIRROR BAR "Here's a nice jazz trio collage in an intimate setting live with no frills, Ray Vanderby's fingers tracing some pretty, melodic & soulful pianistic sounds, vulnerable, without the safety net of front line instruments, weaving uniquely original, pretty, swinging, lyrical, compositions & solos with two very fine & dedicated jazz players Adam Bodkin on bass & Rohan Moore drums who compliment greatly & creatively Ray's musical emotional sensitive poems. This is raw, down-home, spontaneous historical jazz not only for jazz aficionados but for all who appreciate unique, original & highly creative sounds" - Serge Ermoll 2010
“On this debut CD AMORESQUE, pianist/composer Ray Vanderby and his quartet take us on a musical journey through a wide-ranging musical landscape with many unexpected twists and delights.” - Mike Nock,

Blue Pie gets the Jazz groove with The Ray Vanderby Jazz Quartet "Thank you so much for the copy of the AMORESQUE CD which I can't stop playing. Just love it so much, some very beautiful music. Amoresque, the Spirit of Amoresque a debut jazz recording from the Ray Vanderby Jazz Quartet, is an impressive and remarkable creation. It is as far away from mainstream music as the equator is from either polar region. Nonetheless the power and strength of this seemingly unruly phenomenon is based on its undeniable ability to provoke and ignite powerfully emotional reactions in those who listen. What is most impressive is the way Ray Vanderby, as leader and pianist, plays with the lightness and freedom of freshly minted inspiration and accomodates his collaborators in terms of composition and approach. Astonishingly, he plays and composes by ear and doesn’t read music! Greg Gibson’s tenor, alto and soprano saxophone solos and breaks are just luxurious and never falter, Warren Baker presents haunting percussive effects on drums and cymbals while Adam Bodkin sets the tempo on bass with a cool style and an immeasurable grace. Listeners who believe that free playing is only about angst and catharsis should check out this impressive and engaging outing. One would wish for music like this to serve as a directory for many musicians to come." - Barry O’Sullivan-Producer/Presenter “A Jazz Hour”

"Thank you ever so much for your talented and spiritual gift AMORESQUE. Your compositions Ray Vanderby and playing within your wonderful musical album Amoresque are a pure delight, sensitive, beautiful and full of serene, meditative calm, love and hope, showing that entropic turmoil in this world can be avoided and discarded with the peace, harmony and divine order of beautiful music such as yours. But most of all your music clearly shines with a bright, positive and magic light, pointing in the direction of much needed and essential humanness for one another in our world, pointing in the direction of acceptance, humility, kindness, sensitivity and love. A sensitive creative work of art."
